Former Scarborough Police Lieutenant Timothy Barker just walked into court and entered a not-guilty plea on the slate of charges stemming from that massive internal investigation.

After 31 years on the force, back when departments like this operated like a tight-knit boys’ club, Barker allegedly pocketed thousands in fraudulent overtime pay, milking taxpayers for traffic details he never actually worked.

Even with a not-guilty plea entered, they can’t scrub the record of what happened under the old guard. When high-ranking officers abuse public trust for decades, a slap on the wrist or a quiet retirement doesn’t cut it. Accountability has to apply to everyone, badge or no badge
