When an officer compromises a major drug prosecution by turning a confidential informant into a romantic partner, blows up a 60-year potential sentence down to a slap on the wrist, and gets handed a promotion and a plaque by Chief Moulton for a ‘job well done,’ you don’t just have local corruption; you have a revolving door for institutional failure.
Josh Guay’s reward for blowing up chain-of-custody in Scarborough wasn’t accountability; it was a relocation to rural Maine where he managed to stack titles as a school resource officer, athletic director, and law enforcement lead. How is someone with a documented history of compromising investigations allowed anywhere near students, let alone while simultaneously running the show as Deputy Chief? Taxpayers are funding a multi-title fiefdom for a cop whose entire career was built on breaking the rules.
Greenville, Maine, it’s time to wake up and look at who you’re letting anchor your institutions.
