Back in May, we covered the initial proceedings surrounding the state’s case against Jodi Theriault. Following up on the paper trail, Theriault appeared in Portland court Friday for a pre-trial hearing regarding certified business record evidence.

Charged with one count of theft by deception for allegedly obtaining over $10,000 in SNAP and MaineCare public assistance benefits improperly between 2009 and 2016. In 2024, defense counsel sought a dismissal citing significant multi-year state delays in bringing the charges, which hampered access to key records. The judge confirmed jury selection is set to begin October 26.

As an independent media desk, we continue tracking local judicial outcomes and state agency accountability from filing to verdict.
